Sheikh Faisal Sheikh Mansor or “Shake” is the President of the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA) and the current President of the ASEAN Book Publishers Association (ABPA). He runs Shake Book Projects that offers book publishing and consultancy services. Shake graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, USA in 1996. For the love of the written word, he switched his focus in the early 2000s and with over 20 years of experience in the book industry, he has written, published and sold children’s books locally and overseas. He has been invited as a fellow, a moderator, and a speaker in international book fairs in Seoul, Sharjah, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Jakarta, Singapore, Turin and others. Shake was involved in the planning, bidding and in the operations of the Kuala Lumpur UNESCO World Book Capital 2020. He is a member of the World Book Capital Experts Group in the UNESCO World Book Capital Network. Since 7 years ago, Shake has also been the consultant for the city of Petaling Jaya, Malaysia on its Learning City program that won the UNESCO Learning City Award in 2019 and other local cities to embark on a lifelong learning program in their sustainable city development agenda. |
