He hails from humble roots in a small village called Chui Chak which is not far away from Teluk Intan. Graduated from the University of Malaya in 1976 with an honours degree in Economics. As a Perak State Scholarship holder, he started off his career in the government service as a Statistician in Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia and later to join the banking industry and only to leave to be on his own after more than 30 years in the banking line. Married to Rtn Tan Ooi Kim who is a retired teacher and are blessed with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. - Honorary Chairman of Kelab Pertanian Chui Chak - Vice President of Zhang Association KL & Selangor for 6 years - President of the Rotary Club of Bukit Bintang in RY2011-12 - Chairman of the Past Presidents Council in RY2014-15 and RY2017-18, - Chairman of the District Dengue Task Force in RY2013-14, - Chairman of the District Economic and Community Development Committee in RY2014-15, - Assistant Governor in RY2015-16 - Chairman of the District Membership Growth and Retention Committee in RY2016-17 - Membership Development & Extension Chair in RY2017-18. - Trustee in Yayasan Kelab-Kelab Rotary Malaysia - (Rotary Regional level ) Assistant Rotary Coordinator for Zone 10C, covering D3300, D3310 and D3450 for Rotary Years 2021-22, 2023-24 and 2024-25 - Active member in a number of other Chinese Guilds and Associations. |
