Evren Sharma was born in Türkiye. She holds a degree in Drama Studies, where she specialised in playwriting. After working for several years as a stage actress, she became a journalist, based in both Türkiye and London, before pursuing further studies in journalism.

Her first novel, Eksildik Birer Birr (We Dwindled One by One), published in Türkiye, received a debut novel prize, establishing her as a distinctive library voice, Before writing Runi-Captives of Light, she developed the storyline for Rumi: The Musical, which premiered in London's West End in 2021.

Having lived across Europe, the Middle East and, more recently, in London and Kuala Lumpur with her husband and son, Evren attributes her perspective as a writer to multitude of cross-cultural experiences. Alongside her literacy endeavours, she has spent years working with several nongovernmental organisations focused on women's rights - a commitment that continues to shape the themes of her writing.
