Amelia Natasha Md Jafar is a spoken word artist, writer, and educator. Since returning to Malaysia after living in Aotearoa for almost a decade, Amelia has been featured in BFM radio, Berani BersamaMY and performed at Sunway University, Balai Seni Negara, Urbanscapes, & numerous local poetry gigs. In 2017, she published her zine, Blue Yemoja which revolves around female empowerment and the idea of mothers as a plural, paying homage to women who have raised her. She has conducted various workshops for children, high school students and adults such as the Malaysian National Poetry Slam 2021 by MIDP and MY PoetrySchool, and creative workshops under MulaZine x BrandNewWaves (2021), Petronas x EnglishJer among others. She hopes to explore and participate more in Malaysia's literary and art scene. Amelia holds a double degree in Pure Mathematics and Psychology. She is currently teaching Drama and Mathematics at Sri Kuala Lumpur International Primary School. While consciously thinking about how she can cultivate a safe space for children to grow their confidence, Amelia works alongside children and motivates them to realise their potential. |
