Raising Global Citizens, Come What May
The current pandemic sweeping the world has brought rapt attention onto education at all levels. In schools especially, parents across the globe worry if their children will receive an education on-par with pre-Covid times. Many talk of the ‘lost generation’ resulting from interruptions to normal schooling, and in Malaysia we have had, and continue to experience prolonged and unpredictable periods of school closures necessitating online learning, with all the challenges that brings. With a network of 50 schools across six regions globally, schools belonging to the International Schools Partnership (“ISP”) have persevered through these trying times to ensure that students continue to experience amazing learning, whether on-campus, or from home. The seven ISP schools in Malaysia have ensured that the entire learning eco-system continues to thrive even online, beyond merely replicating the classroom experience.
In short, they show that schools properly equipped, and powered by educators with a firm understanding, and commitment to learning are immensely resilient and effective - despite what the world may throw at us. This unprecedented event also presents an opportunity for us to pause, and review our assumptions that have driven our worldview, and the role that education plays in nurturing the young. We must recognise there exists an opportunity before us to crest the wave and help make them even more wholesome human beings and members of society both at home, and globally.
