Mayasari Abdul Majid serves as the senior librarian at Nobel International School Malaysia. She graduated from UiTM with a Bachelor of Information and Library Management (2010), a Master of Science in Knowledge Management (2013), and a Doctorate in Information Management (2020) with a specialization in School Library Management. Beginning her career in education as a teacher in 2011, she transitioned to becoming an academic librarian in 2014, driven by her passion for school libraries, ultimately earning a PhD in library management. She actively engages in the field as the chairperson of the Resource Centre Committee in Librarian’s Association of Malaysia . Her global contributions to school resource centre programmes led to her appointment to the joint committee IASL-IFLA, where she currently serves as a standing committee member of the School Libraries Section within IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. She was one of the committee members who conducted the “School Libraries Manifesto” mini conference at the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), Ireland, in 2022. For three consecutive years, she coordinated Malaysia's International School Library Month. She is a prolific writer, having authored numerous articles on 21st-century school library management for both local and international article journals. In Malaysian and international webinars and seminars, she frequently shares her expertise as a panellist and moderator. Additionally, state education departments have invited her to contribute a book chapter to an international publisher and serve as a trainer for the Basic Library and Media Teacher Course. She also advises on the Smart School Qualification Standards (SSQ) school resource centre assessment rubric and participates in the National Library of Malaysia's panel for the National Information Literacy Agenda (NILA). The international seminar about AI in 2023 recognised her expertise in AI in school libraries and invited her to speak. She is a dedicated advocate for innovation; she actively participates in and judges innovation competitions, particularly in school library technology. Her notable achievements include winning a gold medal in an innovation competition. |
