Amar Shobha Sarna is a former Teacher Trainer with Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Ilmu Khas (IPG KIK), Kuala Lumpur.  With more than a quarter of a century (36 years to be exact) with the Ministry of Education, she was involved in a plethora of exciting projects, workshops and courses. She was a Master Master Trainer with Primary Innovations, a Regional joint project between British Council and the Ministry of Education (MOE).  She was also heavily involved with the Roadmap Committee.  As a PoR (Point of Reference) for CEFR, she oversaw the training of many Master Trainers.  She was also a mentor and lecturer on MAEPA, a collaborative project between Malaysia, Australia and Afghanistan. A member of the Steering Committee PEMANDU for the Transformation of English, she played a vital role.

In her capacity as a teacher at the Royal Military College and Trainer at IPG KIK, she wrote numerous Teaching Files for Class Readers for Literature and modules on a variety of subjects – Literature, The Teaching of Literature, The Teaching of Poetry, The Teaching of Drama, The Teaching of Reading, The Teaching of Writing  and on Pronunciation.  She was invited to conduct courses and training on Choral Speaking, Public Speaking, Impromptu Speaking and a whole host of others.   A judge at District, State and National levels for Choral Speaking, Debates, Drama and Public Speaking, she has seen English with all its delectable varieties!  She has also rapporteured for International Conferences and Symposiums.

She was awarded an Excellent Service Award by her Institute and also awarded the title of Pensyarah Cemerlang. She believes very strongly in being innovative and was a Silver Medallist in an Innovations Competition held in her Institute for her original Grammar Game, Search Me. She was also observed for Good Practices in the UK-MPIK Twinning Programme.

She authored a Teaching File for a Class Reader, We Did Not Mean To Go To Sea, and co-authored several CEFR-aligned books on English with Oxford Fajar, meant for the Lower Secondary. She has also created Storyboards on Literature for EduWeb, Bahagian Teknologi Pendidikan. Being involved in Voice Overs for a Year 3 Textbook for Blind Students was a challenging experience. Among some of her research publications are: Creating Poets out of Non poets (2013); Differentiated Instruction: Baby Steps towards Inclusive Pedagogy in Malaysian Schools;  Classroom Management Practices – Observations in Selected Malaysian Classrooms  IOSR Journal Of Humanities And Social Science (IOSR-JHSS) (2014); Student Teachers’ Perspectives On Phase 2 Practicum Experience ( 2016)
