Before the Private Education Division, Bahijah has working experience with the Curriculum Development Division and the Teacher Education Institute of Malaysia  and has been a government officer for more than 25 years. 

Before the Standards and Registration Unit, Bahijah led the Inspectorate and Enforcement Unit as well as the International Relations Sector at the Private Education Division. 

As the appointed Head of the Standards and Registration Unit, her  main task is to draft, carry out and ammend the standards, standard operating procedures as well as the guidelines for the establishment and registration of private education institutions to ensure they comply to the Education Act 1996 [Act 550].
